ABOUT
TMSW Art Advisory LLC was established in 2017 by the founder Tanya M. Sridaromont Wells. The firm advises on private sales and brokerage for the secondary market, guidance at auctions, estate planning, and intensive research to provide advice on charitable giving with fine art as the vehicle.
Tanya Wells previously served as a 19th and 20th Century art specialist and sales director for two international auction houses. Her areas of expertise include museum quality works on paper, post war art, Impressionism and modernism, Surrealism, and art between the two world wars. Additionally, Tanya has sourced art by contemporary and blue chip artists for the past decade including works by Sarah Sze, Damien Hirst, Rudolf Stingel and other leading 20th Century artists. Many of her clients are entering a new phase of collecting or dispersal, others are long standing collectors and esteemed market members. Tanya has worked with numerous museums, private collectors, trusts, artists foundations and estates throughout her career. She led a team that handled the valuation, sale and marketing presentation of the Lauren Bacall Collection, a highly successful series of auctions and white glove sale that took place in 2015 at Bonhams New York.
Tanya began in museum education at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth under Terri Thornton and Michael Auping. She holds a BS degree in art history and a separate focus in business administration from Texas Christian University and completed graduate studies at Christie’s Education New York in 19th and 20th Century art under Bruce Altshuler. She served as a Christie’s graduate trainee before becoming an officer in Impressionist and Modern running her own sale. At Bonham’s her team led the sale expansion in North America from 2012- 2016. Recently, she worked with Winston Art Group in the Advisory division and with business development. In her addition to her work, she serves a member of the Modern and Contemporary Collectors Committee of The Morgan Library and Museum and is a supporter of IFAR International Foundation for Art Research. Tanya previously resided in London and is based in New York and Texas with two daughters.

In the past decade the markets of art have grown steadily. In addition to art fairs, auction houses and dealers there are a myriad of choices to consider. Rarity, quality, condition, market comparables, transport and storage are key elements that an art consultant can bring to a client looking to make an acquisition. By taking a long view as well as a current read of markets, this helps provide the best research to make an educated purchase.
